🌿 FREE Outdoor Adventure – Let’s Explore the Mangemangeroa Reserve!

Get ready for a fun walk with your basketball buddies through one of East Auckland’s coolest hidden gems — Mangemangeroa Reserve!

This trail is like stepping into a nature storybook — it winds through coastal forests, rolling farmland, and even a muddy estuary full of wildlife. You’ll be walking where Māori once used clever climbing ferns (called mangemange) to build their huts and make eel traps. Pretty awesome, right?

🎧 Things to listen and look out for:

  • Tūī singing their robot-sounding songs
  • Kererū (big, heavy wood pigeons that crash through trees)
  • Fantails fluttering around you like they’re playing tag
  • Kingfishers and herons spying fish in the muddy estuary
  • And maybe even some pūkeko strutting through the reeds!

We’ll take it slow, have some laughs, spot some birds, and maybe stop for a snack or a group photo along the way.
